Monty the cat

My first ever cat portrait! This was my wifes birthday present back in February (the painting that is, not the cat). He's six years old and he's a git (but we love him). Charcoal & pastels on 30 X 40cm yellow pastelmat.

This was one of these paintings that just rolled out quite nicely, got it done in one afternoon, happy days!.

  1. Ben,
In addition to enjoying your return to the blog, I'm learning a new language! I'll be honest with you--I have a clue, but I'm not really sure about what a "git" is.
Feel free to educate us Yanks by including the translation. We need the help!
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  2. It's funny, I use the word 'git' all the time but ask me what it literally means and I can't give you an answer....er....look at Monty...that's what a git looks like.

Urban dictionary has this to say about it:
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=git

In this context the most appropriate definition is: "Mild chastation expressing annoyance, but with affectionate undertones."

In my experience ALL cats are gits most of the time.
    ;-)

That's a real groaner, and I think you know what that is.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.
