Pablo

Portrait of Pablo Picasso, soft pastels on 30X40cm yellow pastelmat.
I've noticed doing this and my last painting 'Wind' that I've not been blending at all and I've hardly touched my pastel pencils, everything is done with the big pastel strokes, again this is not intentional just seems to me the way I need to go.

Seem to be too many paintings going on in my head at the moment and I'm rushing a bit, just need to slow down a bit and take stock of where I've got to.

  1. wow, you've certainly captured his powerful essence, I knew exactly who it was immediately. You're certainly producing a lot of work at the moment but with the quality of stuff you are producing I'd just go with the flow!

  2. Thank you Jools, I'm sure I'll keep knocking out my portraits to try to improve my technique, really enjoying doing them at the moment but I'm starting to feel some limitations with them, I just feel like there's potential to get a bit stuck, need to come up with some new ideas, pluck up the courage to have a go at some different subjects.
